Bell Let's Talk Now in it's 12th year Bell Let's Talk Day, which was held on Jan 26th this year, hopes to raise both awareness and money for mental health, with the goal of eliminating the stigma around mental illness, supporting organizations across Canada to help improve mental health care access, and funding research that could one day offer promising treatments.                                                         I shared the following on Facebook during Bell Let's Talk Day last year.  January 28-2021 I wrote the following poem awhile ago but never shared it because...well just because. I am sharing it now because...well just because.                                                         Go...

A Free Gift I bought a gift for a person I had known for  just a short time. When I gave them the gift, they offered to pay me for it. They couldn't understand why I was giving them something for free. This reminded me of the free gift of salvation which is offered to us from Jesus. All we have to do is accept, it's paid in full. For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift, so that none can boast (Ephesians 2:9).  For God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not die but have eternal life (John 3:16).                                                                                                   ...

The Good Fight Keep fighting the good fight can sound like such a cliche, especially when we are in a place where we feel that we have no more fight left in us.  So what do we do, where do we go when we are in that place?  That place of feeling like the Phoenix lying amongst the ashes. One of my favorite stories in the Bible is the meeting between Jesus and the woman at the well. That meeting with Jesus changed hers and many others' lives. (John 4:4-42).   The well is my go to place. I come with no fight left in me, seeking rest from the battle. I sit alone at the well with Jesus, to listen and be restored.  He tells me to fight the good fight of faith. (1 Timothy 6:12),  and that He is with me always (Matthew 28:20).  He reminds me that he has defeated the world ( Matthew 16:33).  I feel my wings getting ready to take flight once again. I find the following verse from Isaiah very encouraging.  Isaiah 61:3"...to bestow on them a crown ...

Resolutions I found the following in a little booklet called Our Daily Bread. I would like to add to this list of easy to keep resolutions.  I resolve to join a gym and not go.  I actually did this one year - well I went once or twice.                                                         A resolution is a firm decision to do or not to do something.  I used to make resolutions at the beginning of each year, thinking in my heart that this would be the year that I would stick to them, only to be among the 84% of the people that research shows throw them out by the 1st of February.  To the other 16%, high five.   Now at the beginning of each new day I resolve, with God's help, to do  better than I did yesterday in all areas of my life.   Zach Williams has a song out called Less Like Me.  I love the...

Hope Hope is defined as a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. According to Psychology Today envisioning something you are hoping for can give you a moment of happiness.  This coincides with Proverbs 4:23 which tells us to be careful how we think because our lives are shaped by our thoughts. I like this statement I came across on hope: Hope is the belief that circumstances will get better. It's not a wish for things to get better-it's the actual belief, the knowledge that things will get better, no matter how big or small. The world will try to steal our hope but we serve a God of hope and He wants us to know that He is still in control. The more we hope the more the world will loosen it's grip on us. As I was taking a walk one day I came across this lone flower growing out from among the rocks. To me this is a perfect picture of hope. So let's walk forward with our heads held high, our hearts full of hope and an expectation of beauty for a...
