Confidence One of the definitions, in the dictionary, for confidence is: The feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust. Like Peter walking toward Jesus on the water, we may start out in confidence toward a certain goal or situation. However, when the wind picks up we start to sink, just as Peter did, because we have taken our eyes off of Jesus. Then, like Peter, we cry out "Save me Lord!" and Jesus reaches out and rescues us. He reprimands us for our lack of trust. We get back into the boat "together" and once again the wind dies down (Matthew 14:28-32).                                            It's great to have friends who are there for us but God wants us to put our complete confidence and trust in Him.. Psalm 118:08 tells us that it is better to trust in the Lord than to depend on man.              ...

The Word The Bible is more than a historical relic. It is the living, powerful Word of God (Hebrews 4:12), in which we encounter  the Lord and discover how to live for Him and honor Him. "I will never forget Your precepts," the psalmist concluded, "for by them You have given me life" (119:93).  What a privilege we have each day to seek God in His remarkable Word! -David McCasland. There's so much that God wants to say to and teach us through His word. Each scripture, which is inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16), is like a rosebud ready to open and draw us into it's fullness. When we ask God to send His Holy Spirit to guide and teach us as we read His word, the Bible will come alive to us. Scriptures that we have read before will suddenly have a personal message just for us, giving us guidance and a new hope.                                                ...

Purpose The definition of purpose:  The reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. God has made us what we are, and in our union with Christ Jesus He has created us for a life of good deeds, which He has already prepared for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). I was watching a program on clutter when the statement was made that sometimes a room or space may become so cluttered that it can't be used  for the purpose it was intended.  That statement made me think   of how the clutter we hold onto in our lives such as unforgiveness, regrets and fears, can keep God from using us for the purpose for which we were created.  I used to think, what difference will it all make a hundred years from now, until God showed me that I can make a difference in the present. He gave me the understanding that we are all born for a reason, and that if we seek Him with all of our heart, we will find Him and He will reveal to us what our purpose is (J...

Laughter Have you ever had a good belly laugh and then said  "I needed that?" The term Laughter is the best Medicine is no joke. The following are just a couple of submissions by staff at The Mayo Clinic: Laughter enhances your intake of oxygen-rich air, stimulates your heart, lungs, and muscles, and increases the endorphins that are released by your brain. A rollicking (For some reason that word made me smile) laugh fires up and then cools down your stress response, and it can increase and then decrease your heart rate and blood pressure.  The result?  A good relaxed feeling. Here's a joke that I hope will give you a little chuckle, and who knows,  when you share it with someone else it just might turn into a belly laugh. A man and his wife were in a restaurant.  He orders a meal of cows tongue.  She says to him, "Gross, how could you eat something out of an animal's mouth?" Then she turns to the waitress and orders a fried egg sandwich.   ...
